Braves’ Sean Newcomb has meltdown, sets off fire extinguisher after blown lead

Sean Newcomb’s meltdown after the 10th inning of the Braves’ 7-6 loss to the Marlins made a mess for both teams to have to clean up.

Newcomb gave up the run that allowed Miami to win the game in the bottom of the 10th, which prompted him to kick a garbage can in frustration when he walked back Miami’s guest dugout.

The trashcan hit a fire extinguisher, which went off between the tunnel leading to the clubhouse, according to reports. A large fan blowing sent the dust and smoke flying, which prevented the Braves from being able to head inside.

According to USA Today, a cleanup crew stayed cleaning the mess until early Sunday morning scrubbing down the hallway, equipment and dugout, with Newcomb reportedly apologizing and offering to pay for any damage.
