Tensions are usually elevated when longtime rivals such as the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants get together.
So it shouldn't have come as a surprise when Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner took exception to what he felt was an excessive celebration by the Dodgers' Max Muncy in the first inning of Sunday's game at Oracle Park in San Francisco.
To be fair, Muncy had reason to celebrate after crushing a Bumgarner fastball 426 feet into McCovey Cove, but his first four steps out of the batter's box were a little too slow for MadBum's liking.
The Giants lefty barked something before Muncy had even touched first base — and the Dodgers slugger yelled right back.

Home plate umpire Will Little eventually stepped in to say something to Bumgarner, but Muncy continue to gesture toward the mound — even after he rounded third.
We may not have seen the last of this confrontation. The two teams still have 10 more games to play against each other this season.
