There has been very little whittling down of teams in the pursuit of Marlins catcher J.T. Realmuto.
Five teams remain active in their pursuit of the All-Star catcher, according to a report from Fancred Sports, which cites unidentified league sources.
The Rays, Braves, Padres and Reds are at the forefront of activity surrounding the catcher. The Dodgers aren’t out of it yet, either, however, they do not appear to be among the frontrunners, according to the report.
Reds, Padres, Braves, Rays remain in running for Realmuto. Dodgers not out of it but not as engaged as frontrunning foursome.
The biggest question to come out of this report though is, where the Astros are?
If these are the only teams still in on Realmuto, it would appear Houston is out of the running.

Miami reportedly asked for top-10 prospect Kyle Tucker in the deal and the Astros refused to include him, so it’s possible the Marlins simply are not backing down off of the request and Houston won’t budge, either.
At this point though, there would appear to be no close end in sight for this trade rumor as pitchers and catchers report in about two weeks for spring training.
