Pirates’ Kyle Crick needs season-ending surgery after altercation with teammate Felipe Vazquez

Kyle Crick’s season is over.

The 26-year-old reliever underwent surgery to repair tendons in the finger of his right hand, the team announced Tuesday. He is expected to make a full recovery by next season.

Crick was injured during an altercation with teammate Felipe Vazquez in the clubhouse before a 6-4 win over the Giants in San Francisco on Monday. The team fined both players after the incident.

“The behavior exhibited by these two players last night is unacceptable, inconsistent with the standards expected of a Major League player and will not be tolerated by the organization,” Pirates general manager Neal Huntington said in a statement.
