The Senegal international had just over a two-week break after reaching the African Cup of Nations final this summer.
The Reds winger missed the whole of pre-season including the Community Shield defeat to Manchester City earlier this month.
Mane came off the bench in Jurgen Klopp’s side’s 4-1 opening day victory over Norwich on Friday.
Virgil van Dijk was also in attendance at the press-conference and was quizzed on no longer being the world’s most expensive defender after Harry Maguire joined Manchester United for £80million.
Van Dijk said in response: ‘The price tag wasn’t a big issue to me. You don’t have any influence on. It happens.
‘The only thing you can do is put your head down and start playing. That’s what I have been doing and I just keep trying to do that and be a better player.’
Chelsea are coming into the match on the back of a 4-0 thrashing from United on Sunday.
