Sky Sports commentator David Croft was forced to issue an apology during the FP2 broadcast at the Las Vegas Grand Prix after Red Bull team principal Christian Horner gave Ted Kravitz the middle finger in the pit lane.

Kravitz was undertaking his regular pit lane reporter duties during the Sky Sports F1 broadcast for the extended length FP2 session when the topic of Christian Horner’s glasses came up.

Discussing the length of the opening day of on-track action in Las Vegas, Kravitz said: “I’ve got to say that this marks of course the longest day that is not, anymore, Christian Horner’s 50th birthday.

“But it was quite long. He must feel like it because it has stretched into this day, but yeah, something I’ve noticed… I think he’s wearing his new, fancy glasses on the pit wall.”

He jokingly continued: “Oh no, maybe he’s taken them off, and who can blame him? Who, approaching 50 years old, would wear their glasses in the pit lane wanting to pretend that they actually don’t need them? Who would do that, as age approaches all of us?”

Kravitz was then informed that Horner was looking his way from the pit wall, prompting him to turn and involve the Red Bull team principal in their conversation.

He called out: “Where are the glasses? Christian, put the glasses back on. Put the glasses on.” Horner then replied by holding his middle finger up to the side of his face.
