Auburn men’s basketball landed a massive pickup Friday as five-star point guard Sharife Cooper verbally committed to the Tigers.
Cooper is listed No. 18 overall in his Class of 2020, according to 24/7Sports. The Marietta, Ga., native is also the highest-rated player ever to commit to the Tigers, according to 24/7Sports’ database.
Head coach Bruce Pearl dropped a celebratory tweet after the news became official Friday night:
Cooper averaged 25.3 points and 8.6 assists on this year’s Nike EYBL circuit. The 6-0, 160-pounder is the second commit of Auburn’s 2020 class, joining three-star shooting guard Justin Powell. He selected Auburn over fellow SEC powers Kentucky and Florida, among other programs.
Auburn is fresh off its first Final Four appearance in program history. It finished 30-10 this past season.
