The Australian Boomers have breathed a sigh of relief after scans revealed Melbourne United big man and Olympic hopeful Jock Landale had only suffered a minor knee injury.
Landale underwent MRI scans on his right knee on Thursday after suffering an injury in the early stages of Wednesday’s game against the New Zealand Breakers.
Thankfully for the Boomers’ Olympic medal chances, the injury is only minor.
United expects Landale to miss Sunday’s home game against arch rivals the Sydney Kings, but will be reassessed early next week to determine when he would be expected to return to play.

Landale had been in dominant form recently and was searching for his seventh consecutive double-double before leaving the game after just 33 seconds of play.
Thursday’s win against the Breakers marked United’s 10th victory in a row – a new franchise record winning streak and sets up a blockbuster match up against the Sydney Kings this Sunday afternoon at John Cain Arena. Tip off is at 3pm.
