Tommy Fury’s preparations for his cruiserweight fight with YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul have taken a hit after the Briton has gone down with a cold.
Fury, the younger brother of two-time heavyweight world champion Tyson, will take on Paul on December 18 in Florida as he looks to maintain his unbeaten professional record.
Speaking to iFL TV, promoter Frank Warren said: ‘Tommy had a little bit of a cold but hopefully he is going to be OK.

The pair clashed in Cleveland after Fury beat Anthony Taylor and Paul beat Tyron Woodley
‘We are up in Morecambe [on Wednesday] so hopefully we will know more then, but he is up for it and he wants to fight.
‘He can’t wait for the fight and I know certainly from Jake’s perspective he can’t wait for the fight.’
Tyson is training Tommy for the bout, which has been highly anticipated for months after Fury squared up with Paul in Cleveland in August following the pair’s respective wins over Anthony Taylor and Tyron Woodley.
The fight has been on the card for most of 2021, with Tommy’s father John saying he will disown his son if he loses to Paul.
However, Fury is confident of his chances of success, telling his nemesis: ‘When you’re getting hit all over the face and your nose and ears are busted, you’re going to look at [Paul’s trainer] BJ Flores and think, ‘What have I done here? I shouldn’t have called him out. Pull me out!”
‘I’m begging you, please don’t retire on the stool. Come out and fight like a man. I wish the fight was tomorrow. I took this away from his fight with Tyron Woodley.
John Fury says he will disown his son if he loses to Paul – but Tommy is confident of victory
‘The man got a split-decision win. That means you only just won against a 40-year-old retired UFC fighter.
‘My god, well done. Good job, mate. You just about beat a 40-year-old man. When you get in there with a fresh 22-year-old whose been doing this all his life, you’re going to wish you stuck to paying UFC fighters off and basketball players.
‘You should have gone and fought Tiger Woods, not somebody who has done it his whole life because you’re in for a big shock. You’re the one who is going to crumble.’
