Tyson Fury slams ‘racist’ pub after doorman refuses travellers entry

Tyson Fury has slammed the "totally unacceptable behaviour" of a pub in Lancashire for refusing to allow a traveller family onto their premises.

The Gypsy King shared a video on his Twitter account of a doorman informing a man and his elderly father they would not be coming in.

Fury, 32, blasted: "Racism in Lancaster 2020. How is this even possible in today’s society?

"Totally unacceptable behaviour. Racism at work."

In the footage, the doorman can be seen and heard explaining why he was not allowing the pair into the pub run by Marstons Brewery.

“The brewery has been instructed by the local authority not to admit travellers," the doorman said.

He then admitted he had not come across either gentleman before but revealed the brewery's policy was due to a previous situation.

The man filming the clip replied: "So my father-in-law there, 70 years of age, and there’s me, and we’re being refused by who? Marston’s?

“So you’ve had an incident here, a few weeks ago.” The worker said: “They have, yes.”

“Were we involved in that incident?" the man contested. "Were we even here?

The pub worker replied: “I wasn’t on duty that night, so I couldn’t say.”

The unnamed man then explained: “We eat here and we’ve drunk here, and we’ve never been involved in an incident.”

He replied: “Guys, I get it. I do appreciate what you’re saying. It’s like you say, you can't tarnish everyone with the same brush."

The man being turned away then questioned if the brewery took the same stance with other ethnic minority groups.

“Like I say mate, it’s not down to me,” the worker responded.

The man then asked: “It’s down to Marston’s, so they’re being racist?”

He then replied: “I’m only answering on what I’ve been told. If it came from them mate, I’d have to enforce it.”

Eventually the worker offered out his hand to shake that of the man before the footage ended.

Fury has been outspoken about racism towards the travelling community in the past.

Speaking in June, Fury said: "I’m a white male, but I suffer racism in 2020, as a white person, because I’m a traveller and I come from an ethnic background.

“Even today, you go into pubs, bars and restaurants and it may say on the door ‘we reserve the right not to let travellers in. No travellers allowed, gypsies or travellers.’ It’s not just black people who suffer racism.

“I think travellers are the most acceptable form of racism, in Britain and in the world at the moment. It’s still acceptable to be racist towards travellers – nothing ever gets done about it, no one ever says anything it, it’s just accepted. That’s it, it is what it is.”
