THOUSANDS of punters are expected to turn out to The Valley to watch the 2018 Cox Plate where wonder mare Winx will go for an unprecedented fourth straight win.

So if you’re one of them and you’re unsure how to get to the track or don’t know the dress code, never fear because we have all you need to know about the 2018 Cox Plate

WHAT TIME IS THE COX PLATE AND WINX?

The race will start at 5pm AEST

Brisbane time: 4pm

Adelaide time 4:30pm

Perth time: 2pm

Darwin time 3:30pm

WHAT DISTANCE IS THE COX PLATE?

The group 1 race is run over 2040 metres

WHAT IS THE PRIZEMONEY?

The Cos plate winner takes home a cool $5 million

COX PLATE DAY RACE TIMES

There will be 10 races on Cox Plate day with the first race at 12.10pm and the last at 5.45pm.

Times may vary depending on scratching and lead up events

There is a slight chance of a sprinkling of rain an hour out from the main race. Besides that good cloud cover and a light wind through much of the day.

COX PLATE DRESS CODE

NOT PERMITTED: Any variation of runner including joggers, rubber thongs or any dilapidated footwear.

Denim and denim look clothing, jeans, jodhpurs, polo shirts, parkas, windbreakers, tracksuits, jackets including bomber jackets, duffel coats, untailored leather jackets, peaked caps, beanies, sporting guernseys, any clothing revealing excessive bare midriff.

Gentlemen (including children 13 & over) are required to wear a collared shirt (polo shirts not permitted) with tailored trousers or chinos. No tie is required, and suit coat, sports coat or blazer is optional. Dress shoes or leather boat shoes must be worn.
