The name of King Charles’ new racehorse has left fans joking that it’s been ‘named after Prince Harry’.

King Charles’ newest racehorse has left many horse racing fans amused on Twitter by its name – ‘King’s Ginger’. The horse, a 2-year-old trained by William Haggas, is the latest addition to the royal’s long and successful list of racehorses.

Sired from the former seven time race winner and Class 1 race winning horse Kingman and the fourth foal out of Australian Grade 1 winner Sweet Idea, there are high expectations for King’s Ginger, and with an ironic name, the filly is certainly one to track.

Racing fans took to social media after one horse racing fanatic spotted the young bay filly on the Racing Post. Posting a screenshot of King’s Ginger to Twitter, he captioned the post: “Great to see Charlie naming a horse after Harry; he's clearly lovin' the game right now.”

King’s Ginger is yet to run but is set for her maiden start on Saturday, September 30, in the 4:15 at Newmarket in the Class 3 Blandford Bloodstock Maiden Fillies’ Stakes. Odds are yet to be revealed and the field is as of yet, still to be confirmed with 31 horses including King’s Ginger all entered.

King Charles is the latest to follow in his ancestor's footsteps and have a love for horses and racing. The king and queen were previously celebrating in August as their superstar horse Desert Hero landed the huge £113,000 prize as Tom Marquand rode the impressive 3-year-old to a 7/1 victory at Glorious Goodwood with Charles and Camilla both in attendance.
