Raceday focus: Best bets, analysis for Ballarat Synthetic on Tuesday

Herald Sun form analyst Brad Waters runs the rule over Tuesday’s card on the Ballarat Synthetic track.

ILALLIQA (Race 6 No. 6 – $4)

The imported mare will make her local debut for the Archie Alexander stable and has settled in well judging but her impressive jumpout win leading up to this. She’s draw awkwardly but will be steaming home late.

BENZ BARON (Race 1 No. 8 – $6.50)

Benz Baron resumes for the Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr stable at Ballarat on Tuesday after a solid recent jumpout. He went well in an outstanding form race first-up last time in and should go well.

MASHRABIYA (Race 2 No. 8 – $2.25)

The Godolphin filly heads to Victoria for her first-up run after three promising outings in NSW. She’ll be much better suited on firmer ground on Tuesday.

POWER STATION (Race 8 No. 4 – $7)

Power Station thrives on the Ballarat Synthetic track, winning and running second on the course at his first two career runs. He trialled well enough and is drawn to get the perfect run on Tuesday.

YOUNG HOSTESS (Race 5 No. 9 – $9)

Young Hostess has gone well in similar assignments at her last two runs and is again worth thought as she’ll get another good run from her middle draw. She’s a great each-way chance at the odds.

John Allen has ridden more winners than anyone on the Ballarat Synthetic track and has another big book on Tuesday. PRESS START (Race 1 No. 6 – $19), SMOKEY CAPE (Race 2 No. 3 – $26), FESTIVUS (Race 3 No. 11 – $2.40), WITHOUT A CAUSE (Race 4 No. 8 – $41), BELLX (Race 5 No. 7 – $9.50), NUMPTY (Race 6 No. 8 – $4.60), THE SISCOS KID or IZE FAIRDINKUM (Race 7 Nos. 14 & 3 – $3.30 (14) or $4 ($3)).

Mildura will host the first of two meetings on Friday before backing up on Saturday. Caulfield will be the scene of Saturday’s Melbourne meeting.
