Raceday focus: Best bets, analysis for Pakenham Synthetic

Herald Sun form analyst Gilbert Gardiner runs the rule over the Thursday night meeting at Pakenham Synthetic.

KERMY (R7 No.6 – $4.80)

Been up a while and was costly prior to a last-start three-length demolition job on the synthetic. Drawn out so will need to use some petrol to cross but looks suited.

DISTANT LOVER (R2 No.5 – $2.10)

Short enough in the market but the filly has race experience on the synthetic and must be respected. Ready to win third-up.

AWARD WINNER (R6 No.7 – $4.60)

Nice return running third at Geelong after a long break. Performed admirably as a two-year-old, beating eventual Group 3 winner A Beautiful Night on debut then running into the likes of Ole Kirk and Parlophone.

Three-year-old filly came to hand quickly last time in, placing first and winning second up. Drawn nicely and experienced jockey aboard. Favourite the hardest to beat but worth an each-way play.

THE JOCKEY: Michael Poy

Young gun has picked up some nice rides under lights at Pakenham.

REPEAL (R1 No.7 – $2.50), MAGIC DRUM (R2 No.1 – $6.50), PRINCESS TINA (R3 No.9 – $11), GEM EDITION (R4 No.9 – $81), KERMY (R7 No.6 – $4.80) and SHEZA SNIPER (R8 No.11 – $8)
