LOS ANGELES — The Rockies’ quest for a perfect 162-0 season has come to an end.

After sweeping the Padres in four in San Diego, Colorado dropped its first game of the season Monday, losing 8-3 to Los Angeles in Dodger Stadium.

In his first start for L.A., Dodgers pitcher David Price dominated the Rockies’ batters through the first seven innings before allowing a solo home run to Nolan Arenado in the eighth inning.

Rockies starter Chi Chi Gonzalez allowed four runs — all in the fifth inning — five hits and struck out three in five innings.

After cutting the Dodgers’ lead to 3-1 in the top of the eighth, relievers Jairo Diaz and Bryan Shaw allowed four runs in the bottom of the inning.

Garrett Hampson drove in two runs in the top of the ninth, but it wasn’t enough as Colorado fell to 4-1 on the year.

German Marquez (1-0) will be on the mound for Colorado on Tuesday, facing off against Los Angeles lefty Alex Wood (0-0).
