The Boston Red Sox are World Series champions and another MLB offseason is upon us.
Chris Sale’s ninth-inning dominance and the champagne-soaked Red Sox celebration that followed on Sunday means that we will have to wait about five more months until pitchers and catchers report.
While there will not be any MLB games for some time, it should be an exciting offseason that could see moves that change the landscape of the league.
Here are important dates to keep an eye out for regarding awards, free agency, and more while we all wait for baseball to return.

When will MLB awards be announced?
The first award to be given out will be the Gold Glove on Nov. 4. One day later, the top three finishers for Rookie of the Year, Manager of the Year, Cy Young, and MVP are revealed. The winners of those awards will be announced from Nov. 12-15 respectively.
When can players become free agents?
Those eligible become free agents on Monday, Oct. 29, the day after the World Series concludes. Teams will have until Nov. 2 at 5 p.m. ET to negotiate exclusively with free agents from their own team or offer them a one-year qualifying offer. If no deal is reached at that point, players are free to talk and sign with other teams. Free agents will have until Nov. 12 to accept a qualifying offer. Most of those with player or club options will have those due by Oct. 31.
Bryce Harper, Manny Machado and Patrick Corbin are among the notable free agents.

When are the GM and Winter Meetings?
General managers from each MLB team will meet from Nov. 6-8 in Carlsbad, Calif. to discuss several off-the-field topics. However, don’t discount some deals getting done during this time.
Baseball’s annual Winter Meetings will take place about one month later from Dec. 9-13 at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas. This four-day stretch features more moves than the GM Meetings and is typically when several trades are made and free agents are signed, as representatives from all 30 teams are congregated in the same place.
The Rule 5 Draft will take place on the final day of the Winter Meetings, and teams who select a player have to keep them on their 25-man roster throughout the season, unless they suffer an injury.
