Anthony Smith reveals he ‘heard stories about a young kid rag-dolling light-heavyweights in Sweden’ before Khamzat Chimaev took the UFC by storm with rapid rise
- Khamzat Chimaev has taken the UFC by storm since making his debut in 2020
- Cechen-born Swede is calling out top names and could fight for title this year
- Stories are beginning to emerge about his dominance during training
- Anthony Smith spoke about hearing that Chimaev ‘ragdolls light-heavyweights’
Khamzat Chimaev has ‘rag-dolled light-heavyweights’ in training for years, according to Anthony Smith.
The Cechen-born Swede has emerged as the next big thing and dominated all comers since making his debut in the organisation back in 2020.
He has manhandled fighters with absolute ease and barely taken a shot himself in 10 professional fights.
Khamzat Chimaev’s legend preceded him for those in the know, says Anthony Smith

And UFC light-heavyweight Smith says he’d heard whispers of Chimaev’s extraordinary feats long before he dazzled fans with his talents.
He told Michael Bisping’s Believe You Me podcast: ‘Other people said it first, so now I can say it out loud.
‘I’ve heard the stories of Chimaev for years, like a couple years before he was even in the UFC.
‘I remember hearing his name, some young kid that’s rag-dolling Ilir Latifi and Alexander Gustafsson down in Sweden.
‘Even when he finally made it to the UFC, beat a couple of guys and looked really good, I kept that to myself until other people had told the story like, ‘Hey man, I’ve been hearing the stories about this kid beating the s*** out of those guys for a long time.’
Chimaev dismantled Li Jingliang last October in what on paper should have been by far his toughest assignment yet.
But he submitted him in the very first round to make another massive statement. UFC president Dana White previously admitted to not having seen anyone quite like Chimaev before.
It seems a fight with Gilbert Burns could be on the cards next for ‘Borz’ and a win could see him fight Kamaru Usman for the title before the end of this year.
Chimaev is planning his next move and wants Dana White to organise the Gilbert Burns clash
