Capitals: NHL fans keep stealing Braden Holtby’s pucks meant for children

A concerning trend has been occurring at NHL hockey games involving the Washington Capitals.

What was supposed to be a cool gesture from goaltender Braden Holtby has turned into a repeated source of frustration and pregame drama:

Older fans keep taking pucks meant for young children.

Last season, Holtby’s teammate Brett Connolly made multiple attempts to give 6-year-old fan Keelan Moxley a puck before Game 2 of Washington’s first-round series against the Blue Jackets. The incident went viral and was another example of adults being the worst at sporting events.

This has not been an isolated incident.

On Monday, Holtby attempted to give a puck to a young Capitals fan in Vancouver. An apparent high-school-aged fan swooped in and caught it, keeping the puck despite a mean staredown from Holtby.
