Los Angeles’ 5 major pro sports leagues playing in city on same day for first time

While the Rams are hoping to keep their perfect season alive Sunday, sports fans in Los Angeles will have to juggle the NFL, MLB, NBA, MLS and NHL.

For the first time in the city’s history, all five major professional sports leagues will be hosting games in Los Angeles on the same day.

The promise of Game 5 of the World Series brought this first-of-its-kind event into fruition.

Besides two big NFL and MLB matchups, the Galaxy will face the visiting Dynamo in MLS action, the Kings will take the ice versus the Rangers, and the Clippers will host the Wizards at the Staples Center.

Branimir Kvartuc, senior advisor and communications director for City Councilman Joe Buscaino, is hoping LA can earn a place in the Guinness World Records once they document the big day. No record of the sort currently exists.

“Los Angeles is a place where memories are made every night, that’s why we’re getting the Olympics (in 2028) (and) the World Cup (in 2026),” he said, via CBS Los Angeles.

The following events will all be taking place Sunday:

  • 3:30 p.m. ET: The Kings host the New York Rangers at Staples Center
  • 4:25 p.m. ET: The Rams host the Green Bay Packers at the Coliseum
  • 4:30 p.m. ET: The Galaxy host the Houston Dynamo at StubHub Center
  • 8:09 p.m. ET: The Dodgers host the Boston Red Sox at Dodger Stadium
  • 9:30 p.m. ET: The Clippers host the Washington Wizards at Staples Center
