The chase for Chase is on.
LSU’s Ja’Marr Chase is opting out of the 2020 college football season to focus on his professional career, per multiple reports:
Chase, one of the nation’s top receivers, is reportedly set to declare for the 2021 NFL Draft, where he is projected to be a first-round selection, with some saying he may be a top-five pick. Chase was a dominant receiving force for the 2019 national championship-winning Tigers squad, grabbing 20 touchdowns and amassing 1,780 yards as one of Joe Burrow’s primary targets. Both marks are school records, while his 20 TDs is an SEC record.
Chase was awarded the Biletnikoff Award as the nation’s best receiver.
Chase’s running mate Justin Jefferson was selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings. Burrow was selected first overall.
The SEC is planning to play its schedule as intended in 2020, starting the season in late September. The Big Ten and Pac-12 both postponed their respective seasons in August.
