No. 12 West Virginia (4-1 Big 12, 6-1 overall) travels to Austin, Texas, to face No. 17 Texas (4-1, 6-2) in a must-win Big 12 matchup on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on Fox.
Both teams are fighting to stay at the top of the Big 12 standings with a win in Week 10. Currently, West Virginia, Oklahoma and Texas are all tied for the top spot. The losing team will essentially be eliminated from College Football Playoff contention.
The Mountaineers recovered nicely from their only loss of the season with a big 58-14 win over Baylor. This was arguably West Virginia’s most complete win of the season; the Mountaineers had 568 total yards and seven touchdowns, taking a dominant 41-0 lead into the half. Quarterback Will Grier is ranked third in the nation for quarterback rating and passing yards per attempt. He threw for 353 yards and three touchdowns against the Bears.
Texas is looking to bounce back after losing a close one to Oklahoma State, 38-35. Quarterback Sam Ehlinger struggled in the first half but finished strong with 283 passing yards and two touchdowns. Ehlinger even contributed two rushing touchdowns of his own. The sophomore quarterback has thrown 210 passes without an interception, a school record.
