The Avalanche on Friday signed its last remaining restricted free agent – defenseman Kyle Burroughs – whom the club acquired from the New York Islanders on Oct. 11. Burroughs, 25, agreed to a one-year deal.
Burroughs served as captain for the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers last season. He was selected by the Islanders in the seventh round (196th overall) of the 2013 NHL draft and has yet to make his NHL debut. He is a candidate to serve as the Avs’ seventh defenseman, along with Dennis Gilbert and top prospects Conor Timmins and Bo Byram.
Young forward Vladislav Kamenev is also an RFA but he’s signed in the Kontinental Hockey League for next season and Colorado retains his rights.
