Checking out the competition! Lewis Hamilton enjoys a cheeky look at Red Bull among his other rivals on his spy mission at F1’s pre-season testing in Bahrain, as the seven-time world champion bids to bounce back this season

Lewis Hamilton cheekily checked out the competition at the 2023 Formula One pre-season testing in Bahrain, as he targets a bounce back season.
The seven-time world champion took his time and got extremely nosey while looking at the other drivers cars, especially the Red Bull car during a walk round before testing.
The 38-year-old was not subtle at all as wandered around and peered into the other team’s cars, as the drivers got testing underway ahead of the 2023 season in Bahrain.
Hamilton failed to win a single race last season for the first time in his career, while team-mate George Russell was only on the top step of the podium once as Mercedes finished well off the pace in the standings.
Max Verstappen won his second successive championship as Red Bull enjoyed a dominant campaign, and they look set to be the team to beat again this year – therefore making it a car for Hamilton to look out for once again.

Hamilton was also pictured walking past his fierce rival and current champion Verstappen as they wandered around before taking to the track to test out their new-look cars.
Despite looking curious at what the Red Bull had to offer, Hamilton previously denied that Mercedes have tried to copy ideas from other teams at the launch of their new car earlier this month.
‘Of course you can see that some of the cars are approaching what a Red Bull might look like, perhaps with the exception of Ferrari,’ Hamilton said as Mercedes launched their W14 car this week.
‘I don’t think we’ve ever been a team that copied other people.
‘We’ve always had our own mind and have always been a team that’s incredibly creative and innovative and likes to do it our way. And I think that’s worked in the past.’
Pre-season testing is now underway with the first race of the new season being in Bahrain on March, 5.

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff also recently opened contract talks with Hamilton, but negotiations have run to just one conversation so far.
Wolff confirmed: ‘We have done a few of these contracts in the past and they change little from iteration to iteration, so it is not complex apart from the obvious – terms.
‘We have had a first chat but I don’t want to commit to any timeline because it’s not important for him or for us. He has a full year to run and we will find the right time.
‘He appears in great form, very positive, motivated, energised, maybe the best so far I have seen in his 10 years with us.’
