Max Verstappen’s dad has launched an attack on Lewis Hamilton’s ‘unacceptable’ driving after his son ended up in hospital following their British Grand Prix collision on Sunday.
The Dutchman had qualified in pole and led the race before Hamilton brushed the Red Bull car at Silverstone’s Copse Corner midway through the first lap.
Verstappen veered off the track and into the barriers despite claiming to have given Hamilton enough space on the corner to avoid a crash.
Hamilton was given a 10-second penalty but incredibly won the race as Verstappen was taken to hospital, where he was cleared after being forced to retire in a crucial race for the Formula One championship.
Now Jos Verstappen, Max’s father, has taken issue with the seven-time World Champion.
Speaking to Dutch publication De Telegraaf, Verstappen senior said: “It's really not acceptable what he [Hamilton] did.
“I think a 10 second penalty is really ridiculous. As far as I am concerned they should have just disqualified him.
“Max gives him space and is just in front of him. You can't overtake on the inside."

This comes after Red Bull racing chief Christian Horner also hit out at Hamilton for his role in the incident.
Horner said: “I think it was a desperate move. He failed to make the move in the first part of the lap, and then it was just a desperate move sticking a wheel up the inside which you just don’t do.
“Copse is one of the fastest corners in the world. You don’t just stick a wheel up the inside. That’s just dirty driving.”
Hamilton has meanwhile defended himself by insisting it was a racing incident in which two aggressive drivers merely ended up colliding.
The 99-time race winner crucially closed the gap with title rival Verstappen to just eight points, while Red Bull appear to be the first team to mount a credible challenge to Mercedes in almost a decade.
