Saint-Etienne: Eddie Jones’ return as Wallabies coach this year has been a horror show.
After claiming that Australia could win the Bledisloe Cup and beat everyone on their way to World Cup glory, the Wallabies are within a whisker of exiting in the pool stages.
Jones has one win to his name from eight matches in charge this year. The side’s average losing margin is 19.1 points.
He is under pressure to keep his job, which would leave RA without a head coach, eight months after sacking Dave Rennie.
Jones could also leave Australian rugby to go to Japan. He was sized up for the Japan head coach role during a secret interview last month and is in the final three candidates.
Here are a handful of contenders who could take the top job in Australian rugby as a dramatic rebuild looms ahead of the British and Irish Lions tour in 2025 and the home World Cup two years later.
