Arne Slot ‘says yes’ to Tottenham job offer as compensation cost emerges

Tottenham look set to appoint Arne Slot as their next manager with the Dutchman reportedly informing Feyenoord of his intentions to move to the north London club. Tottenham have been taking their time in finding Antonio Conte’s permanent replacement.

Instead of rushing into a decision to bring someone in before the end of the season, Tottenham appeared willing to wait until the right person became available. Julian Nagelsmann and Mauricio Pochettino had both been heavily linked to Tottenham.

But Slot soon emerged as the frontrunner for the vacant job at Tottenham for the impressive season he’s had with Feyenoord. And it appears as though Tottenham may be about to get their man, according to a report from Dutch publication De Telegraaf.

It’s claimed that Slot’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta, has been holding talks with Tottenham for several weeks and the Feyenoord boss has now ‘said yes’ to Spurs’ offer. The report states that Pimenta will now hold crunch talks with Feyenoord to thrash out an agreement for his departure.

Slot still has two years left on his contract and Feyenoord general manager Dennis te Kloese said just last week that he expects the 44-year-old to stick around. However, Slot fed into the rumours around his future following his side’s 3-1 win over FC Emmen on Sunday.

“Everyone needs clarity quickly,” he told ESPN. “I [rejected] Leeds in the winter and now I’m staying or leaving.

“My departure can also be good for the club, but if there is no dream club then I will stay. In football it is commonplace that you talk to clubs.

“I am not saying that I have done it now, but it is not forbidden that I talk to other clubs.”
