Arsenal and Newcastle are reportedly showing interest in signing one of the Bundesliga’s biggest stars.
Both clubs have made positive starts to the season and sit third and seventh in the Premier League respectively, but are looking to add some creative flair to their ranks.
They are now looking at potentially making a move for the same player ahead of the January transfer window.
The player that has caught the eye of Mikel Arteta and Eddie Howe is Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Brandt, according to The Mirror.
Brandt is into his fifth season at Dortmund and has made an impressive start to the campaign, scoring four goals and registering four assists in 11 Bundesliga appearances.

He also found the net in his side’s 2-0 Champions League win against Newcastle last week, as he starred against Howe’s men at the Westfalenstadion.
The 27-year-old has spent his entire career in Germany, but that could change this winter with two of England’s biggest clubs keen on signing him.
Whether Dortmund would be willing to sell Brandt, who can play on either wing or in the No 10 position, midway through the season remains to be seen.
The club are currently well placed to make the knockout stages of the Champions League, but find themselves 10 points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen.
Brandt joined Dortmund from Bayer Leverkusen in 2019, but his career could have gone very differently if he had decided to move elsewhere two years earlier.
In 2017, Jurgen Klopp was looking to build on a promising opening 18 months at Liverpool, and wanted to bring the German international to Anfield.

The Reds boss even preferred Brandt over Mohamed Salah, who had previously struggled in the Premier League at Chelsea.
However, Brandt, who had just turned 21 at the time, opted to stay at Leverkusen, while Salah completed his £39m switch from Roma to Merseyside.
Salah has since gone on to win every major honour with Liverpool, and netted his 200th goal in English football at the weekend in a 3-0 win over Brentford.
Brandt has not been able to match those numbers in Germany, but has still flourished for Dortmund over the years, and could finally get his chance to prove himself in England if Arsenal or Newcastle step up their interest in the coming weeks.
