Arsenal have placed Declan Rice at the top of their transfer shortlist this summer. West Ham are not set to make it easy for their London rivals but are reportedly prepared to welcome a player in return as part of any potential deal.
Arsenal’s interest in Rice emerged early in the January transfer window. A deal was never going to be possible during the winter but a summer move could be on the cards.
Sky Sports claims that West Ham are currently pricing Rice at around £120million. That is despite his contract at the London Stadium expiring in just over a year’s time.
The report says they would be prepared to sell for £100m if a player is included in a player-plus-cash swap deal. Express Sport looks at the four stars Mikel Arteta could attempt to send to the London Stadium.

Emile Smith Rowe
The forgotten man of the Arsenal squad, Smith Rowe has not started a single match in all competitions this season. It is hard to see him ending that drought before the campaign ends on May 28.
Smith Rowe was one of Arsenal’s best players last season, which earned him a call-up to the England squad. Injury kept him out for several months this term but he has largely been fit since the start of 2023.
He has been on the bench for the last 13 Premier League matches but has only come on five times, including just once in the last six games. Arsenal fans will hate to see him leave but he is a player David Moyes may feel he can get the best out of again.

Arteta gives backing to Tavares amid struggles for Arsenal
West Ham can do a lot worse at left-back than Tierney. The Scot has made just five league starts this season, though is likely to see out the campaign in the team due to Oleksandr Zinchenko’s calf injury.
Newcastle are reported to be interested in signing Tierney. That move would take him a lot closer to his Glasgow home.
However, Arteta knows there is value in the 25-year-old. It may be an option that could tempt West Ham.
Balogun has enjoyed success in his first full season as a regular part of a first-team squad. He has scored 18 goals in Ligue 1 while on loan at Reims.
The striker has scored just once in his last six outings in a mini drought in front of goal. But he has shown plenty of potential that he could be an exciting player for the future.
Clubs across Europe are interested in signing Balogun. West Ham could get first dibs if he is someone who has caught Moyes’ eye.
Tavares has also spent the season on loan in France. He has scored six goals in 34 appearances, largely from a wing-back position.
He showed promise in his first campaign at Arsenal but his lack of experience caught up with him at times. A full season at Marseille has helped in that regard.
His style of play doesn’t suit how Arteta wants his left-back to operate. If West Ham don’t sign him, he will likely end up somewhere other than Arsenal next season.
