Man City v Nottingham Forest: Pictures
Manchester City star Rodri will miss the Premier League clash against Arsenal on October 8 after being sent off versus Nottingham Forest. The midfielder was dismissed after appearing to grapple the throat of Forest playmaker Morgan Gibbs-White.
Just a minute into the second half, Rodri attempted to shepherd the ball out of play under pressure from Gibbs-White but seemed to be pushed by the Englishman. The City star responded by pushing his opponent back before tensions boiled over.
The Spaniard seemed to grab the throat of Gibbs-White before pushing him forward. The Forest man fell to the floor, prompting other players to race over to separate the pair.
Referee Anthony Taylor showed Rodri a straight red card for violent conduct, meaning he will miss City’s next three matches. Pep Guardiola’s side face Newcastle on Wednesday before travelling to Wolves on September 30.
Rodri will be available for City’s Champions League clash with RB Leipzig on October 4. However, Crucially, the former Atletico Madrid man will be forced to sit out of the Premier League visit to Arsenal on October 8.

Man City’s two Premier League victories over Arsenal last season were crucial to them retaining the top-flight title. They won 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium in February to halt Arsenal’s surge to a shock title triumph.
A 4-1 home victory two months later all but confirmed City’s fourth Premier League win in five years. Arsenal appear to be one of City’s main contenders for the league this season, too, meaning Rodri will be a big miss for the clash with the Gunners.

The 27-year-old has been one of City’s most consistent performers over the last few years. He has started this season in good form and scored his first goal of the campaign in Wednesday’s Champions League victory against Red Star Belgrade.
City were fortunate that Rodri’s dismissal did not see them slip up against Forest. They led 2-0 at half-time thanks to goals by Phil Foden and Erling Haaland.
Rodri was sent off just a minute into the second half but Forest were unable to capitalise on their numerical advantage.
