Arsenal transfer round-up as Gunners eye striker and Buendia fee set

With the January transfer window entering its third week, Arsenal have been tipped to step up their recruitment efforts.

The Gunners have been relatively quiet so far this window, with their only deals so far being the £500,000 addition of young defender Omar Rekik and a new contract for Rob Holding.

And with Mikel Arteta continuing to guide his side away from the Premier League ’s relegation zone, reinforcements are needed if his side are to contend for a top-half position.

Particularly high on Arteta’s shopping list is a creative midfielder, while the futures of several players, including Mesut Ozil, remain unresolved.

Here is the latest Arsenal transfer news.

Arsenal target Turkish striker

The Gunners are eyeing a move for Bursaspor striker Ali Akman, report the Daily Mail.

The Turkey Under-21 international has scored nine goals in 16 games this season, with a goalscorer a major need for Mikel Arteta.

Akman has turned down a new deal at Bursaspor and with only six months remaining on his contract, the Turkish side will likely be willing to cash in this month.

The 18-year-old could be available for as little as £3million, but Arsenal are just one of a long queue of clubs keen to land the striker.

Both Red Bull Salzburg and Galatasaray attempted to strike a deal for the striker in December, while clubs in Germany, Italy and France have also displayed an interest.

Norwich reveal Buendia price tag

The price tag of top Arsenal target Emiliano Buendia has been revealed by Norwich City, report the Express.

The Championship table-toppers have slapped a £40million fee on the midfielder, who has notched seven goals and seven assists so far in the second tier.

Mikel Arteta is desperate to bring in a creative midfielder, with Buendia believed to be the Gunners’ top target for the position.

Their interest started last season, when they admired Buendia’s talent in the Premier League as Norwich were relegated and they have continued to monitor his progress in the Championship.

Gunners linked with stunning move for Eriksen

Arsenal have been linked with a stunning move for Inter Milan midfielder Christian Eriksen.

Inter chief executive Giuseppe Marotta has admitted the former Tottenham midfielder is on the club’s ‘transferrable list’ and could depart San Siro this month.

Eriksen has not fitted in under Antoino Conte after joining the Serie A side from Arsenal’s fierce rivals last January.

Despite his history with Spurs though, Arsenal have been talked of as a possible destination for Eriksen, with the Gunners in the market for a creative midfielder.

And Watford sporting director Cristian Giaretta thinks they should target Eriksen.

“Arsenal are regaining confidence. They’re walking again and Eriksen, honestly, could be of use there [at Arsenal],” he said to Tuttomercato.
