Arsenal have been told that two of their stars could “stop and think” about moving to Manchester United if the Red Devils get bought by Sheikh Jassim’s Qatari delegation. United’s current owners, the Glazer family, are considering an outright sale of the club with both Qatar and Sir Jim Ratcliffe interested in a majority takeover.
Both a group from Qatar and Ratcliffe visited the club in recent days in order to oversee financial details, while a second round of bids is expected this week. Both Qatar and Ratcliffe boast enormous wealth and would ensure that United could become a financial powerhouse that can compete with the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea, perhaps posing a threat to other Premier League rivals.
Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has warned Arsenal that both Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka could consider offers from United as they may engulf Mikel Arteta’s outfit financially with the contracts they could offer their stars, if United did target the Gunners duo.
“They can blow most teams out of the water now, let alone under potential Qatari ownership,” Collymore wrote for CaughtOffside. “If they get taken over, what’s stopping them from going in for Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard or Bukayo Saka in the summer? – You’re not telling me Manchester United’s financial power wouldn’t at least make the Gunners, as well as the players themselves, stop and think.”

Both Odegaard and Saka appear settled at the Emirates, however, as the England star has been in discussions for some time to renew his contract. Though supporters may have been fretting as negotiations have continued to rumble on, a recent update has suggested that he is not far away from putting pen to paper on a new deal that will significantly increase Saka’s weekly wage.
While Odegaard is contracted to Arsenal until 2025 he appears fully content at Arsenal with the armband as his side is currently sat top of the Premier League table, with an eight-point lead over second-placed Manchester City.

The Norwegian and Bruno Fernandes would unlikely be able to coexist in the same team if United did push for Odegaard following a potential Qatar takeover, though Saka may be of interest if neither Antony nor Jadon Sancho can nail down a place on the right wing.
Though both deals would be unlikely, it is an indicator of what United could become under Qatari ownership. The Independent have claimed that rival Premier League teams would likely protest a sale if they are named the preferred bidder by the Raine Group, who are in charge of the sale.
The report states that the view from one influential football figure was a sale to Qatar could “perpetually destroy the division’s competitive balance” which would go hand in hand with Collymore’s view on the chances of Odegaard and Saka considering moves to Manchester.
