Arsenal could be about to strengthen their squad this summer. Mikel Arteta is preparing to reignite transfer interest in Houssem Aouar, while Alexander Isak is also on the club’s radar. So, with that the case, Express Sport will now take a look at how the Gunners could line up if they sign the pair – as well as Andre Onana, Ben White and Manuel Locatelli.

Goalkeeper: Onana

Ajax goalkeeper Onana is currently banned until November after failing an out-of-competition drugs test back in February.

But, despite that, Arsenal are keen.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano recently revealed as much, saying: “They are in touch with the agent.

“They like the player, he’s a serious opportunity but it’s not advanced or closed yet so now Arsenal will talk with people close to Onana, with his agent, to understand the situation.

“But, it’s not done yet.”

And with Bernd Leno struggling, and potentially leaving, Arsenal would be in safe hands with Onana between the sticks.

Defence: Bellerin, White, Gabriel, Tierney

Arsenal are still confident of keeping hold of Hector Bellerin, despite the Spain international being linked with a move to Barcelona.

And they’d love to bolster their defence by landing Brighton star Ben White, who sparkled at the Amex Stadium last term.

Arsenal face competition from the likes of Tottenham and Chelsea when it comes to landing the centre-back but will be hopeful a guarantee of regular action will give them the edge.

The rest of Arsenal’s defence should then be straightforward.

Gabriel Magalhaes could partner White at the back, while Kieran Tierney is likely to play at left-back with Bellerin on the opposite side.

Midfield: Locatelli, Partey, Aouar

Arsenal will soon need a replacement for Granit Xhaka, with the Switzerland international expected to join Jose Mourinho at Roma.

And they’ve been linked with Manuel Locatelli, who has caught the eye with some stirring performances for Italy at Euro 2020.

Should the midfielder arrive, he’d likely play alongside Thomas Partey – who the Gunners hope will kick on following an underwhelming first year at the club.

And ahead of the pair could be Aouar.

Arsenal aren’t expected to sign Martin Odegaard on a permanent basis and Aouar could be a brilliant alternative, having scored seven goals and registered three assists for Lyon last term.

Forwards: Saka, Isak, Aubameyang

Arsenal could deploy Bukayo Saka on either flank next term but, for this team, he’d go on the right.

That would then allow Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to be deployed on the opposite wing, with Isak then playing down the middle.

The Real Sociedad star has caught the eye at Euro 2020 with Sweden so far and Arsenal, always on the lookout for young talent, are certainly in the frame to secure his signature.

Reports have stated it would cost £60million to get a deal for the former Borussia Dortmund star over the line.

And, should Arsenal go that high, it would mean Pepe becoming their second most-expensive signing of all time.
