Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil names his dream 5-a-side team – and includes Man Utd star

Arsenal outcast Mesut Ozil has named his dream five-a-side team – which includes Manchester United star Marcus Rashford.

Ozil has been left out of the Gunners’ Premier League and Europa League squads this season, meaning he will be sitting on the sidelines at least until January.

The German has therefore had time on his hands to become more active than usual on social media, surprising Arsenal fans by expressing regular support for Arteta’s side on Twitter over the past month.

And on Thursday he has posted on the online platform once again, revealing his dream five-a-side line-up and asking supporters to name their own.

Ozil has selected Italy and Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon as his goalkeeper, with Real Madrid star Marcelo deployed in defence.

Another Madrid man, Luka Modric, makes the cut in his midfield.

And in attack, Ozil has opted for United ace Rashford and a third Los Blancos player in Karim Benzema.

Rashford’s inclusion in a team consisting of World Cup and Champions League winners is a slight surprise given the 23-year-old is yet to get his hands on a major club title.

He has clinched the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League in his time at Old Trafford, nevertheless, while also achieving well-documented success off the field.

Rashford has tirelessly led a campaign to end child food poverty in the UK this year, with his request for children to receive free school meals across the country even reaching the House of Commons.

While his proposal was voted down by MPs, his work has led to a number of companies opening their doors for hungry youngsters throughout the UK.
