Luton Town v Arsenal: Pictures
A former BBC reality star was spotted on the Luton Town bench by eagle-eyed fans during their narrow defeat at the hands of Arsenal on Tuesday evening. Declan Rice’s headed finish deep into stoppage time claimed all three points for the Gunners, who are now five points clear of second-placed Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table before they are in action tonight.
There was a familiar face on the Luton bench at Kenilworth Road in the form of Amos Ogunkoya, who appeared on the debut series of hit TV show The Traitors last November. He is now the youngest first-team doctor in the Premier League at the age of 31 after joining Rob Edwards’ support team earlier this year.
Ogunkoya, a qualified GP, is a lover of football and previously worked on the medical team at League Two outfit Colchester United. He went on to appear on The Traitors but was the 12th contestant to be eliminated from the show, meaning he did not get a chance to receive a cut of the £120,000 prize pot.
The north Londoner is now enjoying his new role at Luton after succeeding in his dream to work for a Premier League club. Speaking to the Royal College of General Practitioners earlier this year, he explained: “I knew [football] was an option, but it became more apparent that it was actually doable and that the path to being with a top team was achievable.

“I think about it like this – there are few doctors in general and few doctors and sports scientists. I was experienced and had further qualifications, and few doctors have experience in football, so once you get those steps in, it becomes more likely. I didn’t think I’d be in the Premier League this quickly, but it was always part of the plan.”
Ogunkoya, who boasts a Masters in Sports and Exercise Medicine, has continued to work three days a week at his GP practice alongside his role at Luton. He will be desperately hoping for the Hatters to stay up this season in order to continue at the highest level of the English game, with the club one point clear of the drop zone as things stand.

Luton’s players were hailed by Edwards after Tuesday’s match despite slipping to a 4-3 defeat at the hands of Arsenal, who fought hard to snatch a deserved victory in the final minutes.
“I didn’t really know what to say to the lads afterwards,” said Edwards. “What I did say was I’m proud of them, not to let that one moment then affect us too much. I’ve got to look at the bigger picture. They did exactly what we asked of them, gave everything, and football is about entertainment.
“It was an entertaining game, but my job is to get points as well and we’ve just come up short today. I don’t think I’ve ever seen them so disappointed and flat, they were hurt by it, we all were, but all I can say to them was they gave everything, they made the supporters proud.”
