Gareth Southgate will be without Ben Chilwell and Kieran Trippier against Denmark on Wednesday night after the two full-backs pulled out of England’s squad
Chilwell, who has yet to feature during this international break having missed the Wales friendly after breaching the Government’s ‘Rule of Six’ at Tammy Abraham’s surprise birthday party, has returned to Chelsea for assessment on a pre-existing injury.
He missed the 2-1 UEFA Nations League win over Belgium on Sunday with a reported illness and has now left the Three Lions group to rehabilitate an existing injury complaint.

Chilwell, Sancho and Abraham attended a surprise birthday party for the Chelsea striker at his flat last weekend, with footage of the gathering appearing to show around 20 guests, therefore breaching the ‘Rule of Six’ limit put in place by the Government.
Sancho returned to the squad against Belgium, coming off the bench, but Abraham was not involved and Chilwell was kept out of the group despite testing negative for Covid-19.
Abraham issued an apology prior to the international break, saying: ‘I arrived home to find a small surprise gathering.

Jadon Sancho (right) was also at the party but returned to the side that defeated Belgium
‘Though I was totally unaware this was planned, I would like to wholeheartedly apologise for the naivety shown for the organisation and attending of this gathering.
‘All I can do now is learn from it, apologise to everyone and ensure it never happens again.’
It now remains unclear if Chelsea boss Frank Lampard will be able to call on his £50m summer signing against Southampton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid defender Trippier has withdrawn due to a personal matter.
Trippier captained England in their 3-0 friendly win over Wales last week and also started the 2-1 victory against Belgium.
Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles or Chilwell’s Chelsea team-mate Reece James are expected to step up to replace Trippier, who played at left back in the Belgium win, against Denmark.
Chilwell and Trippier’s absence could see Ainsley Maitland-Niles promoted from the start
