Arsenal fans couldn’t believe what Ben White had done to his hair when the Gunners returned to training after the international break.
Mikel Arteta saw 13 of his first-team squad jet away on international break as Declan Rice, Aaron Ramsdale and Eddie Nketiah helped England secure qualification to the Euro 2024 finals. But one glaring absence still remains in Gareth Southgate’s side, as he overlooked White again.
Despite impressing at right-back and centre-back since making the £50m move to the Emirates in 2021 from Brighton & Hove Albion, White only has four senior England caps to his name. He left the World Cup squad in Qatar for ‘personal reasons’, and has failed to be selected since.

Upon returning to the Arsenal camp ahead of the Gunners' first game back after the international break against Chelsea on Saturday. White showed off his new, daring, white hair – which looked as though he’d attempted a horror film marathon and been scared senseless.
A video posted to Arsenal’s social media accounts saw White walking out to training alongside Reiss Nelson and Mohamed Elneny. The short clip saw Nelson walk out first and say to the camera: “Get my guy’s new trim”, as White reached from behind to grab his face in an attempt to shut his team-mate up. Nelson and Elneny broke into laughter as White gave a smirk before turning away from the camera.

Reaction from Gooners on Twitter were mixed as some couldn’t believe White’s new style, with one saying: “Who let him do that?!” A second added: “In the competition for the ugliest trim.” While a third wrote: “He’s an iced gem.” A fourth said: “Look how embarrassed he is haha.”
But others were a fan of his new lid, with one saying: “Ben look good to go,” a second commented: “I like his hair though.” A third joked that he’s taken his nickname literally, saying: “Yes Benny Blancoooo”.
White has played every available Premier League minute this season in Arsenal’s so far unbeaten beginning to the campaign. The 26-year-old began the season in a centre-back pairing with William Saliba but has been moved to right-back to accommodate Gabriel’s return to the starting fold.
