A Black-eyed and bloodied England fan have been snapped on the booze enjoying the sun in Southern Italy.

It's shorts and t-shirt – and, apparently, Adidas Gazelle – weather as the Three Lions are set to take on Italy in Naples on Thursday evening. England fans were snapped in large groups as they soaked up the sun ahead of the Euro 2024 qualifier.

One fan sported a black eye and busted lip, but he still seemed in high spirits as he posed for a photo. It's unknown if the man in the picture sustained the injuries in Italy – or if he already had them before jetting out to the peninsula.

There have been concerns for England fans' safety in Naples – and those fears were only accelerated after Napoli hooligans delivered a sinister message earlier this week.

Garford Beck, the boss of England men's supporters' team, said he received a "threatening" email ahead of their game in Naples on Sunday, which read: "We will be there, 60 ultras to get you." As a result, the England fans' friendly with Italy was cancelled.

Italian authorities have also advised England fans not to travel to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona alone.

The FA have also stepped in and offered fans busses to the stadium, lowering the risk of ambushing.

“To assist with the safety and security of all England travelling supporters the Italian Police have requested and are strongly advising, that England supporters use locally organised coach transport to travel to the stadium,” read an FA statement.

Although Italian games attract a different audience to Napoli fixtures, fears are high after the shameful scenes in the Southern Italy city during their Champions League clash.

Eintracht Frankfurt supporters had been banned from the city – due to security concerns – but some still travelled to Naples.

There were violent clashes with riot police and local fans. Videos on social media showed German fans setting cars alight and throwing missiles, including flares – while Napoli fans reportedly attacked buses carrying Eintracht supporters.
