Bojan Krkic is considering a new career in competitive gravel racing after launching a new £5,000 bike with Andres Iniesta.

The ex-Barcelona and Stoke City star, 32, was released in December by Japanese side Vissel Kobe.

After leaving Japan, he launched the Barcelona-based cycling brand called Guava Bikes with his former teammate.

While discussing the new venture, Bojan also revealed that he would like to participate in some races soon.

‘I think that when I enter this project it will be to stay and that I continue to be linked to cycling,’ he told Spanish publication AS.

‘It is a good way to combine sport and social activity. I could participate soon to be in some races. I’m going to prepare for it.

‘I have always liked the bike, even as a means of transportation, but for about five years I have loved gravel. Whenever I can, I go out to do my routes.

‘Regarding soccer, it also serves as training, because as it has no physical impact it allows you to travel many kilometres without damaging the body.’

The son of a Serbian footballer whose own career ended in Spain, Bojan was inducted into Barcelona’s world-famous academy at the age of nine.

Bojan made his first-team debut for Barcelona in 2007 at the age of 17 years and 19 days, breaking Lionel Messi’s team record for youngest player to feature in a La Liga match.

He spent four seasons with the Barcelona first-team, scoring 41 goals in 162 games before he was sold to Roma in 2011.

His other European stops before joining Stoke City in 2014 included loans with AC Milan and Ajax.

The Spaniard was released by the Potters in 2019 and played 85 times for Stoke, scoring 16 goals.
