Manchester United may have a new Portuguese star at Old Trafford, but Bruno Fernandes is still very much a crucial part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.
Ronaldo was always going to grab the headlines for his second United debut on Saturday, but Fernandes scored a stunner in front of the Stretford End to add to the Portuguese dominance as they ran out 4-1 winners against Steve Bruce's side.
Fernandes has been a revelation since signing from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020, and the midfielder 'wants to stay' and commit his future alongside his compatriot.
United are keen on rewarding Fernandes with a new deal, and talks are ongoing.
The midfielder is already under contract until 2025 but according to football journalist Fabrizio Romano, United are prioritising a new deal for Fernandes along with Paul Pogba.
Romano tweeted: "Talks ongoing since July between Manchester United and Bruno Fernandes agent. Positive discussions underway – Bruno wants to stay, Man Utd want him to sign new deal by the end of the year."
Romano then added: "Bruno’s contract is now considered the ‘priority’ together with Pogba."

Pogba looked set to leave United this summer but started the new season despite entering the final year of his contract, and has looked in the form of his life, setting a new Premier League record.
The Frenchman has recorded seven assists in the first four games, a feat which has never been achieved this early into a season, and his partnership with Fernandes has given United fans hope that Pogba could sign a new deal.
Pogba remains United's record signing after initially leaving the club for free, but could potentially walk away from Old Trafford for nothing once more if a deal isn't signed before next summer.
