Chelsea: Hudson-Odoi shows off impressive skills in training
Chelsea are willing to sell Callum Hudson-Odoi in January to ease Frank Lampard’s frustration at the size of his squad, according to transfer expert Ian McGarry. Hudson-Odoi has started just one Premier League game so far this season and is currently out with a hamstring injury. The Chelsea academy graduate has struggled with a string of injury problems since recovering from the ruptured Achilles he suffered in April 2019.
Hudson-Odoi has found himself down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge following an influx of summer signings.
Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech were all signed by Lampard ahead of this season, with the trio all able to play in the same positions as Hudson-Odoi.
Hudson-Odoi only signed a new Chelsea contract in September 2019 to fight off interest from German giants Bayern Munich.
However, his progress has not gone as planned and McGarry says he could be sold for up to £40million to help Lampard fine-tune his attacking options.

“It’s our understanding that there are some issues regarding the overload of attacking midfielders in Chelsea’s squad,” McGarry said on the Transfer Window Podcast.
“I think we all realise and know they spent heavily, obviously, in the summer and indeed last January (2019) if you count Christian Pulisic.
“They also invested heavily in a new contract for Callum Hudson-Odoi, who was attracting interest from Bayern Munich.
“It’s our information that Frank Lampard is becoming slightly frustrated by the size and the imbalance of his squad, and would be willing to allow Hudson-Odoi to leave the club.

“He’s currently injured obviously, which makes that difficult in the January window.
“But it doesn’t mean to say that, as he is under a new contract, he could not attract offers in excess of €35m-€45m for the young England international.”
Hudson-Odoi is back in training ahead of a potential return against struggling Arsenal on Boxing Day.
However, full-backs Reece James and Ben Chilwell are doubts for the trip to the Emirates.
Meanwhile, Ziyech continues to be sidelined with a muscular problem.
“[James and Chilwell] are both doubtful,” Lampard said on Wednesday.
“I can’t give you an answer at the moment. I’m not sure if they will be fit for either game.
“Hakim Ziyech won’t be fit for Arsenal. He had an injury at the start of the season and he’s just got another muscle injury. You have to wait for it to recover.
“It’s not a long-term concern, we hope to have him back within the next week or so, and hopefully offer what he was before.”
