Chelsea fans fume Prem "hate us" as officials appointed for Brentford clash

Chelsea supporters have been left in dismay after learning that Anthony Taylor will referee their Premier League clash against Brentford while pointing out a string of recent contentious decisions.

The Blues sit one point clear at the summit of the table following five wins and a draw from seven fixtures ahead of their trip across west London on Saturday afternoon.

Thomas Tuchel's side bounced back from defeat against Manchester City to win 3-1 against Southampton before the international break, but fans are worried about the upcoming weekend.

Many have pointed out that Taylor made the decision to send Reece James off at Anfield earlier in the season, as well as sending off Mateo Kovacic against Arsenal last season.

One fan wrote: "Anthony Taylor will referee Chelsea’s next Premier League game, against Brentford. We’re in trouble."

With a second adding: "Chelsea spend one weekend at the top of the Premier League and the FA put Anthony Taylor in charge of Brentford vs Chelsea this Saturday. They hate us."

A third continued: "Jose was right, there is a campaign against Chelsea."

With a fourth concluding: "FT: Anthony Taylor 2 Chelsea 1."

In reality, Chelsea have a turbulent record when Taylor is in charge, winning 15 of their Premier League encounters and half of their eight domestic cup outings.

Tuchel said after the draw against Liverpool that the ref made his decision too fast, with his players getting fined for their response to the call.

He said at the time: “I don’t like these red cards in football, as nobody in the stadium and on the TV wants to watch a game for 45 minutes 11 against 10.

“It spoils the game. I have no solution for it. Maybe it is a red card, but in general these early red cards, the whole game is spoiled.

“I would have liked a longer check, to see the whole situation where it gets deflected.

“I am not blaming him for taking the decision, but for me I think he took it too quick.”
