Chelsea have granted Derby permission to play both loanees Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori against the Blues in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
Unlike in the Premier League, where loan players are not permitted to face their parent clubs, the EFL Cup allows teams to decide for themselves.
Mount and Tomori have been standout performers for the Rams this season, and Frank Lampard was keen to field the pair against his former team.
Chelsea have given Lampard permission to play the duo, saying that prevention would hinder the progression they have been making in the Championship this season.
Lampard’s Rams defeated Manchester United on penalties in the third round of the Carabao Cup back on September 25.
Juan Mata opened the scoring for Jose Mourinho’s men in just the third minute on the night, and it looked as if United were well on their way at Old Trafford.
But Harry Wilson leveled the scores with a sensational free-kick midway through the second half, and Derby pressed on from there.
Red Devils goalkeeper Serio Romero was then shown a red card to compound Manchester United’s problems before Jack Marriott put the Rams ahead five minutes before the end.
