Trevoh Chalobah’s personal trainer has appeared to brand Chelsea’s injury crisis an “absolute mess”.
Ed Hodge is understood to work closely with Blues defender Chalobah. The versatile 24-year-old has been just one of many first-team stars to have been struck by injury this year, missing five games due to a thigh problem he sustained in August.
He joins new arrivals Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, Christopher Nkunku, along with established players Reece James, Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile and Carney Chukwuemeka in a long list of names in Chelsea’s treatment room.

Now Chalobah’s own trainer has seemingly offered a damning explanation as to why Mauricio Pochettino’s side is riddled with injuries. He appeared to discuss the Blues’ issues in a now-deleted Twitter post of a screenshotted private Instagram conversation.
Messages apparently sent by Hodge read: “Trev has a hammie injury… should be back to 90 per cent sprint ability by end of this week.

“Most of the injuries are because the players have been loading muscles time and time again without lengthening them simultaneously… then one lunge into a tackle, or a COD too rapidly and they're injured.
“Hardly any of them do reformer Pilates or terrain work (i.e. stair sprints & hill sprints to strengthen knee ligaments). It's an absolute mess at the moment, bro.”

Pochettino was forced to name three teenagers on his bench during Sunday’s 0-0 draw at Bournemouth. His lack of established players available goes some way to explaining the Blues’ torrid start to the season.
They have picked up just one win, drawing two and losing two as they sit way down in 14th in the Premier League. That is despite the west Londoners’ transfer spending exceeding the £1billion mark since Todd Boehly’s takeover in the summer of 2022.
