Manchester United's linked interest with Donny van de Beek has sky-rocketed over the past 48 hours.
The midfielder's absence from a pre-season game vs Eintracht Frankfurt was accompanied by quotes from his manager, Erik ten Hag, who explained: "There are indeed developments that keep him out of the selection."
Of course if United fans weren't excited enough by this development then the Mirror's report that United are in pole position to land the midfielder must have sent them wild.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have yet to act in the transfer window and have watched on as fellow top four rivals Chelsea have completed the transfers of Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Thiago Silva and, possibly soon, Kai Havertz.
With the Jadon Sancho saga seemingly dead in the water, could this give United fans something to chew on?
Here's everything we know so far…
United fans are probably sick of hearing about deadlines for their targets yet here we are again.
Ajax have told potential suitors that any deal must be concluded before the Eredivisie kicks off, according to Dutch outlet Het Parool.
That means United must complete their work by September 13.
Shirt number options…
What to wear?
Van de Beek, who currently wears six, likely has four different numbers to choose from should he complete his switch to United.
There is of course a fairly famous option available.

A Dutch sports journalist believes Tottenham are ahead of United in the race to sign Van de Beek.
Jan Joost van Gangelen has claimed he's spoken to the midfielder's agent, Guido Albers, and believes there's more chance of Spurs sealing the transfer.
"Actually I think Spurs," he responded when discussing where he things the Dutch star will go.
United in 'pole position'
The Mirror claim United are in pole position to land Van de Beek thanks to Solskjaer.
It is reported that the Reds boss has worked hard to convince the midfielder to join by outlining his desire to turn United back into Premier League champions.
What Van de Beek has said
According to Sport, the 23-year-old has told his team-mates he's on his way to Manchester.
Barcelona were apparently keen, mainly due to Ronald Koeman's arrival, but it seems they will miss out on this occasion.
What Erik ten Hag said
The Ajax boss confirmed that Van de Beek was missing from his side's pre-season clash against Frankfurt due to transfer reasons.
This suggests a little more than just 'interest' is at play here.
There are indeed developments that keep him out of the selection," he said.
