Dortmund making Jadon Sancho contingency plans amid fears of Man Utd transfer

Borussia Dortmund are putting a Jadon Sancho contingency plan in place amid fears of a Manchester United transfer.

The Englishman was linked to the Red Devils throughout the summer – but a move failed to transpire.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were put off by the German team asking for £120m of the 20-year-old, who scored 20 goals and made 20 assists last season.

On the way to hitting those numbers again this season, there has been speculation United will return for another go at signing Sancho.

And France Football have suggested that Dortmund are already starting to prepare for the worst.

Tanguy Coulibaly has been identified as a “replacement” for the forward, scoring twice in 14 games for Bundesliga side Stuggart this season.

With his contract running out in 2023, the 19-year-old would be called on as the report states that there is belief Sancho will head back to the Premier League.

And the forward himself has spoken of tough times at the Westfalenstadion since his failed move to Old Trafford.

Speaking tobundesliga.com , the 20-year-old said: “Obviously this season has been very difficult for me personally.

“So I knew when I went away, I just focused on my game and came back raring to go.

“I’m working hard every day in training and on the pitch so I'm just happy to get my goals and assists.”

While Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Witzke has also spoken out on how the summer speculation impacted the 20-year-old’s game.

The chief told Kicker : “Subconsciously, Jadon had probably already prepared a little for a change.

“I think he had at least thought so much about it that he lost his ease. I have found him trying very hard for weeks.

“The biggest difference is that he used to not think about his next ball action.

“Now he thinks about it, and the tenth of a second that he misses is often exactly the one in which the opponent is already on his feet.

“The more you try as a creative person, the more difficult it often becomes.”

But Sancho could also provide United with a problem as they look at his Dortmund team-mate Erling Haaland.
