England vs Belgium player ratings as Walker impresses in Nations League clash

England came behind to earn a fine win over world No.1 side Belgium at Wembley.

The visitors had looked to be running away with the game when they started strongly, but Yannick Carasco saw his effort ruled out for offside.

Belgium then took the lead when Romelu Lukaku scored from the spot after being fouled by Eric Dier, but Marcus Rashford levelled with a penalty of his own after Jordan Henderson was pulled back in the box.

Mason Mount then grabbed the winner in the second half when his curling effort found the net via a deflection which gave ex-Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet no chance.

Here are the player ratings.

ENGLAND

Pickford 7

Louder, more commanding and you can see why he’s still England No1.

Alexander-Arnold 7

Good going forward, decent understanding with Walker. He’s the future.

Walker 8

MotM. He looked finished as an England player, but this was a big return. Excellent.

Dier 6

Gave away a penalty with a rash challenge on Lukaku. Played middle of back three.

Maguire 6

Looked sluggish and struggled badly at times against Lukaku. Needs games.

Trippier 6

Did his best as a very right footed left back amid the chronic left footer shortage.

Rice 7

His place to lose in midfield ahead of the Euros. Good, strong presence.

Henderson 7

He was fouled for England’s penalty and equaliser. Good calming presence in midfield.

Mount 7

His first goal for England. Chosen ahead of Grealish, not popular but vindicated.

Rashford 7

Scored penalty as calm as you like, the MBE hero was dangerous throughout.

Calvert-Lewin 6

His chance came with Kane not fully fit. Worked hard, few chances but did OK.

Helpless on England’s goals, unhappy return to England for ex-Liverpool keeper.

Conceded a penalty. A gift. Covered a lot of ground, aggressive in attack and defence.

Deflected Mount’s shot over Mignolet and into his own net. Unlucky.

Denayer 6

Belgium are missing players and their defence struggled to contain at times.

Boyata 6

Belgium’s back three looked vulnerable, had a difficult game.

Castagne 7

The Leicester full back was a nice mix of attack and defence. Good player.

Witsel 6

A big presence for Belgium but was out fought when England gained control.

Hard working display, lively early on but faded and lost his impact on the game.

Ran the game at times, beautiful moments, England relieved when he went off.
