Everton’s transfer window has started to pick up the pace in the last few days; with star man Richarlison reportedly being a target for Paris Saint-Germain and Moise Kean being a potential Cristiano Ronaldo replacement, it has become frantic on Merseyside. And in another big move, Porto’s Luis Diaz is being targeted by the Toffees according to the Times – with James Rodriguez moving the other way on a season-long loan.
Rodriguez, 30, joined Everton on a well-documented free transfer from Real Madrid last season under the leadership of Carlo Ancelotti.
Having bought Brazilian midfielder Allan, French maestro Abdoulaye Doucoure and English youngster Ben Godfrey last summer, it seemed as though Everton would mount a charge for European football.
And, with Rodriguez showcasing his virtuoso in the first few games of the season, Everton fans waxed lyrical about him as their side went top of the league with some brilliant football to go with it.
However, injuries plagued the talented Colombian midfielder, and a loss in form for the Blues ending up with the finishing tenth.
