Ex-ref Mike Dean gives update on I’m a Celeb and Strictly Come Dancing rumours

Mike Dean has addressed the rumours of him going on I'm a Celeb or Strictly Come Dancing later this year.

Having hung up his whistle at the end of the last Premier League season, the popular ex-referee has been linked with both reality TV shows. A natural showman, it only makes sense for Dean to appear on our screens again soon.

He remained coy on which one, if any, he'll be doing when appearing on Soccer AM this morning (August 6), though. Asked about the jungle, he replied: "What about it? Not as far as I know."

Then pressed on Strictly, he replied: "Not as far as I know. You never say no, do you? But until the phone goes you've still got to continue with what you're doing."

The 2022 Strictly line-up has already started to be announced ahead of it's launch next month, whereas I'm a Celeb will being airing in November.

Dean appears to be more suited to the dance floor as before he begun his referring career, he was a passionate ballroom dancer.

Speaking last year on Tubes' Golf Life YouTube channel, he said: "I used to do a bit of ballroom dancing years ago. But then I kind of stopped when I got to 18, it wasn't the in-thing to do at 18. But it is now isn't it."

The 54-year-old has hinted at a return to his roots before and made his stance perfectly clear: "[Football fans] would watch me make a t** of myself on a Saturday night, they'd be up for that. I'd give it a go. If you got asked why shouldn't you? It would be a good laugh I suppose."
