Boxing fans expressed their concerns for Oscar de la Hoya after the American boxing icon appeared to slur his words during a live broadcast on Saturday night.
The 48-year-old appeared on the Triller Fight Club broadcast for the Jake Paul vs Ben Askren fight on Saturday night and appeared to be erratic and incoherent in his speech.
De la Hoya is returning to the ring after 13 years in boxing retirement and was discussing his potential options when fans noticed his strange attitude.

De la Hoya came on air and appeared to be erratic and began slurring his words live on air
The American said live on air, while slurring his words: ‘You can expect a f***ing real fight. A real fight. Whoever I pick to be my opponent. You bet your a** that I’m gonna be the best motherf****r out there.
‘I always fought the very best, and I’m proud of that. And whoever it is, I’ve been retired for 14 years. But guess what I’m pick the very best.’
‘I don’t care who it is. I will fight until the end, I will bleed until the end. And I will go down to the end.’
De la Hoya confirmed his love for Mike Tyson in an emotional declaration of support
At one stage, De la Hoya looked down the camera and shouted: ‘Mike Tyson, I love you. Because you inspired me… at 56 years old… to make me think and make me know that I can do it. You looked great. You feel great. You were amazing.’
UFC star Daniel Cormier claimed De la Hoya was plastered on his live air duty which came just before the clash between Frank Mir and Steve Cunningham.
The 42-year-old tweeted on Saturday night: ‘He’s not buzzing, Oscar De La Hoya is plastered! This is the craziest event I’ve ever seen in my life. And I can’t turn it off.’

Other boxing fans also raised concerns about De la Hoya’s state of mind, with some claiming the interview with the retired star was unprofessional.
One fan tweeted: ‘Oscar De La Hoya is drunk as f***. This is the most unprofessional broadcast I’ve seen in a long time.’
Another claimed: ‘As someone who grew up on Oscar de la Hoya fights and articles, it’s just so embarrassing. Sad.’

Meanwhile, one fan claimed: ‘Oscar de la hoya can’t feel his face right now.’
The ‘Golden Boy’ retired from boxing in 2008 and is currently rated as the 16th best boxer of all time by BoxRec.
De la Hoya won the gold medal in lightweight boxing during the 1992 Summer Olympic Games and was Ring Magazine’s Fighter of the Year in 1995.
He ended his career with a 39-6 record having lost to the likes of Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather in the final few bouts of his career.
