Alli is back at Everton this season after his loan to Besiktas, with Sean Dyche open to reintegrating him at Goodison Park and giving him a fresh start.

In a heartbreaking interview with The Overlap in July, he opened up about the struggles he has been through over the years.

He revealed that he was sexually abused at the age of six by his biological mother’s friend and that he spent six weeks in rehab for an addiction to sleeping pills.

Alli also told how he started smoking at the age of seven and dealing drugs aged eight in a harrowing insight into his life.

The revelation about his struggles cast his difficulties on the pitch in a new light and caused many to rethink how they should communicate towards players on social media and in the stands.
